1. Emergency Kit

Wedding days can be unpredictable. From broken nails to broken noses, you never know what might happen! And even though you can’t control the chaos, you CAN control how you prepare for it.

We recommend putting together a small emergency kit or buying one to have on hand like this 85 Piece First Aid Kit, to have on hand during your wedding day. A few items we’d insist on would be these. Band aids for cuts and scrapes. Painkillers for headaches, back aches, or any small bump. Moleskin for blisters from new shoes. And lastly, extras of anything essential for you and your partner such as glasses or contacts.

2. Cake Server and Knife

Not every couple opts to do a cake cutting, but if you do, you’ll need something to do the cutting with. And a cake knife and serving set is one of the items most often forgotten on the wedding day. Many couple assume that the venue will have something on hand, or else they forget to plan for it entirely in the midst of getting everything else ready to go. So, finding a special, or extra set, of serving utensils to have on hand could save the day! We’re loving this rustic wood cake knife set by AW Bridal we found on Amazon!

If nothing else, it’s a fun way to add a personalized detail to your day with custom or monogrammed utensils that you can enjoy for years after. So be sure to check with your caterers that a pair will be provided or bring your own!

Don't forget to bring your own pen just in case!

3. A Pen

Want to know a sure-fire way to cause a bit of chaos on your wedding day? Just imagine trying to find a single pen to sign your marriage license with at the last minute. Can’t sign that document without one! And why not find something that’ll look great in your photos too, like this rosewood pen!

You wedding day will be when the people around you, and yourself, will be without your usual purses or bags. In a sea of fancy handbags, pocketless dresses, and clutches, a pen might be difficult to find. We recommend adding a pen (or two!) to your emergency bag. Otherwise, you might be sending your bridesmaids or groomsmen on a wild goose chase around the venue!

Make sure to fill up on good food to keep you going on your wedding day.

4. A Full Breakfast and Water Bottle

It’s hard to describe how fast your wedding morning can go. You’ll rush from hair to makeup to dressing back-to-back. And if you’re not careful to pencil in the time for it you could miss out on the most important meal of your wedding day! Breakfast. You wouldn’t think you’d forget, but once the day starts you might be too busy to notice until your stomach to growling in the middle of your vows. You’ll need your energy to get through the whole day without adding another embarrassing video of a fainting bride or groom to the internet’s memory.

So, make sure to fill your tank with a hearty breakfast and you’ll be ready to party late into the night with your new husband or wife! And on that note, have your bridal party remind you to drink enough water through the day too. Dehydration is a huge mood killer!

Those pretty shoes might need a backup plan on your wedding day.

5. Comfy Shoes

Those heels may be made for walking down the aisle, but they may NOT be made for dancing the night away! Another thing most couples forget, is to think about their poor aching feet. Those gorgeous heels will be perfect for pictures, but something more practical is a must for the reception!

And this advice isn’t just for the ladies. Gents, those shiny new wing tips could be an issue as the night wears on if you haven’t broken them in enough! So, choose a second, more comfortable shoe for after the pictures so prevent aches and blisters. Have fun with it too! You and your fiancée could even find a fun matching pair to show your solidarity.

And if the worst should happen and you need a little insurance, keep that emergency kit on hand with a little moleskin, band aids, or wound covering like our personal favorite Tegaderm Transparent Film to save the day and your feet!

6. Your ID

Another thing every couple forgets to have on hand is their ID’s. There isn’t really a convenient place to hold a wallet in a wedding dress so you might think you can just leave this behind back at the hotel or in your dressing room. But think again! If you want to do any adult partying with your guests, you’ll need that ID! Bartenders are obligated to follow all laws of the state where you live, and that includes checking ID’s. So, don’t put their liquor license at risk by forgetting that little card.

We recommend asking your best man or maid of honor to add your license to their own bag or pocket. They’re going to be nearby the whole night so it’ll be easier to just ask for it back occasionally than it will be to run back to wherever you’ve stashed it each time you want a refill. Just don’t forget to get that back before the sendoff and you’ll be good to go!

Don't forget to silence that cell phone!

7. Turn Your Notifications OFF!

We can’t think of anything more embarrassing to forget that this last point. We know that even on your wedding day it can be important to keep your phone on hand. By this point most every couple at least understands that they can pass their phone off to a trusted friend of family member to keep an eye on during the day, but don’t forget to silence it before letting it go! No one wants to hear a ring tone interrupting that first kiss in their wedding video!

So, when you go to unplug and hand over that phone don’t forget to silence all notifications! Airplane mode or simply turning it off will save that ceremony!
